How Can We Help?
In Depth: Using Your Mark Book
So, you’re viewing your Class Mark Book using this guide, and now you’re wondering what it all means! Blutick uses Mark Books and Task Summaries to allow you to easily keep track of the tasks you have set and work that your students are doing.
The Mark Book enables you to look at all the tasks for a particular class, and Task Summary pages provide a detailed breakdown of work for one task.
Let’s start with the first of these — the class Mark Book. This has the names of students down the side, and all the topics that they have attempted across the top – you may need to scroll sideways to see them all!
I only want to view tasks I’ve set
Any task that has been set by a teacher or parent/tutor will be marked with a “T”. A topic appearing without a “T” has been attempted by the student independently. If you only want to view set tasks, use the blue “Show Tasks” button.
Having done that, the button will switch to “All Work”, which you can use to restore the view as before. Please note – if no tasks have been set, this button will not be present.
What do the coloured boxes mean?
You will probably see several empty (black and white) boxes. White boxes indicate that the student has not been set that task. Black boxes indicate that the student has been set the task, but that they are yet to complete it.
If a black or white box has a number inside it, that indicates that although a student has completed some of the “Try It Yourself” questions, they have not yet submitted the quiz for that task.
Completed quizzes generate a Smartscore – these boxes are coloured green, yellow, or red, depending on how high the score is.
Hover your mouse pointer over the Smartscore to see the date it was achieved.
Please note that the displayed Smartscore for any given topic is always the most recent one attained, not the highest-scoring. For more details on the Smartscore, see our support document What Is the Blutick Smartscore.
I want to view fewer tasks
To restrict the number of tasks that you are viewing, use the dropdown menu to view tasks set within a set timeframe, or tasks where students have achieved below a set Smartscore.
Can I delete a topic?
If you wish to delete a topic from the Mark Book, scroll to the bottom of the Mark Book. There is a check box under each topic, and a red “Delete Progress” button at the left hand side. Check the appropriate box and click “Delete Progress”.
A pop-up message will then ask you to confirm the action.
